Ignored Alarms

In the evening of April 26, 1986, two electric engineers tried an unauthorized experiment in a nuclear plant. They wanted to know how long a turbine could rotate after the electric current had been removed.

To remove the electric current of a nuclear reactor is difficult and very dangerous because the engine becomes extremely unstable. To do such an experiment, it was necessary to ignore six various computers alarms. One by one the computers posted the message:

“STOP! - EXTREMELY DANGEROUS – DO NOT CONTINUE!”

And instead of stopping the experiment, they turned off the alarms and continued.

At 1:00 of the morning - the No.4 engine exploded! The result? The greatest industrial nuclear catastrophe never known to the world - Chernobyl.

The instructions and the warnings of the Scriptures are also clear! We are unaware of them with our own lives, and the lives of those around us.

WARNING! “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” and “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 3:23; 6:23)

WARNING! “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” (II Peter 3:9)

WARNING! “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” (Matthew 7:13-14)

“The road that leads to life” - is the road of faith, of repentance, of confession of Christ, of baptism in His name, and a life faithful to the Lord.

Do not be unaware of alarms! Follow the way of the road before it’s too late!
