A Talented Violinist

A famous violinist who was on tour in a big city informed the local media that he would give his next performance with a Stradivarius violin. When the curtains lifted for that concert, there was not an empty seat in the theatre. Many people came to see the violin as much the violinist, and as soon as the first note was played, it was clear the people were impressed.

However, after the second piece, the musician surprised everybody by breaking the violin on his knee, and leaving the
stage. The disturbed audience thought he had gone crazy. Then the theatre director appeared on stage and began to calm the people down. “Ladies and gentlemen, please don’t worry. The violinist didn’t use the Stradivarius. The violin he just broke was only worth a few dollars.”

The violinist came back on stage, but this time with the Stradivarius, which looked brand new because it was so shiny. After he played the first piece with that expensive violin, he stopped playing and asked the audience, “Who noticed the difference between the two violins?” Only a few hands went up. Then he admitted to the people that his purpose was to demonstrate that it is not the instrument that makes the music, but the musician.

Place your lives in the hands of the Divine Musician. He knows how to make a symphony with very ordinary, common instruments.
