Why have we received the Holy Spirit? What does He do for us? The Holy Spirit that indwells us will resurrect us from the dead in the same way that He raised Jesus from the dead. This is the main reason we are given the Spirit at our baptism, and the point we may think is the most important. That God has given us His Spirit so we may dwell with Him eternally. But the Spirit has been given to us for other purposes as well. Here are 10 more reasons why we have received God’s Holy Spirit:

1. He strengthens the inner man – Ephesians 3:16.
2. He enables Christ to live in our hearts – Ephesians 3:17.
3. He yearns to give us a greater grace – James 4:5-6.
4. He helps our weaknesses and intercedes for us – Romans 8:26-27.
5. He helps us overcome sin – Romans 8:13; Galatians 5:18.
6. He frees us from a system of Law and legalism – Galatians 5:18.
7. He helps us live in harmony with our brothers and sisters – Galatians 5:25-26.
8. He enables us to bear spiritual fruit – Galatians 5:22.
9. He transforms our character to reflect Christ – 2 Corinthians 3:17-18.
10. He prepares us for life in the kingdom of God – Romans 14:17.

These are but a few things that the Holy Spirit does for us.
